13th and U Proposed Project Announced
The JBG Companies have announced the residential project in lieu of the boutique hotel that was contemplated several years ago. It will be a Planned Unit Development (PUD) because it will require significant zoning relief because the property is zoned for lower density commercial development.
In order to gain community support, JBG is proposing some community benefits in exchange for approval of the zoning change by the surrounding community. Below is a list of the proposed benefits:
1. mitigate construction impacts to neighbors: $100K
2. provide public space improvements: $50K
3. mitigate traffic and parking on existing neighborhood: $125K
4. fund community education or recreational facilities/programs: $250K
5. assist in the creation of a Business Improvement District: $75K
